Celebrate music in French! Come ready to listen and maybe even to sing!
On Friday, October 25, Cabaret will feature singer, song writer, actor Charles Aznavour (Shahnour Aznavourian) . Born in Paris in 1924 to parents who had escaped the Armenian genocide in Turkey, his music had a revolutionizing impact on French pop, extending its lifetime well past its mid-century golden age. Edith Piaf took Aznavour under her wing, taking him to North America in 1948, where he opened for her in New York and Montreal. . Bob Dylan considered Aznavour, sometimes referred to as a Gallic Frank Sinatra, to be “one of the greatest live performers” he’d ever seen. CNN named him Entertainer of the Century in 1998, and he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Aznavour sold more than 180 million records and appeared in more than 60 films
Come reminisce, revisit the past and get acquainted with the new!
